NBCUniversal, Inc. (or simply NBCU or NBCUni) is an American multinational media conglomerate headquartered in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It was formed in 2004 by the merger of General Electric's NBC with Vivendi Universal's film and television subsidiary Vivendi Universal Entertainment, after GE had acquired 80% of the subsidiary, giving Vivendi a 20% share of NBCUniversal. In 2011, Comcast attained 51% and thereby full control of the newly reformed NBCUniversal by purchasing shares from GE, who also bought out Vivendi. The company has been wholly owned by Comcast since 2013, who has since bought GE's ownership stake.

NBCUniversal is primarily involved in the media and entertainment industry; among its most significant properties are NBC, one of the United States' "Big Three" television networks, and Universal Pictures, one of Hollywood's "Big Six" major film studios. It has a significant presence in broadcasting through a portfolio of domestic and international properties, including terrestrial and pay television outlets. Via the Universal Parks & Resorts division, the company is also the third-largest operator of amusement parks in the world. NBCUniversal currently owns three animation divisions: Universal Animation Studios, Illumination, and DreamWorks Animation.
